Jesus Comes Into Our Homes and Heals
Now as soon as they had come out of the synagogue, they entered the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John. But Simon’s wife’s mother lay sick with a fever, and they told Him about her at once. So He came and took her by the hand and lifted her up, and immediately the fever left her. And she served them. – Mark 1:29-31
Bringing Jesus Into Our Homes
Simon (also known as Peter), Andrew, James, and John had just witnessed Jesus teach in the synagogue and cast out an unclean spirit from a demon-possessed man.
They already had a pretty fantastic day hanging out with Jesus. Now we find them going to the home of Simon and Andrew where Simon’s mother in law was in bed sick with a fever.
Most Christians love spending Sunday mornings with Jesus at church but then often leave Him at church when they head back out into the world. But Jesus doesn’t want only to be worshipped at church; He wants to be glorified in your home as well.
Sometimes Our Homes Need The Most Healing
So many homes are grieved with illness, troubles, & problems. I am sure there is not a person reading this article that isn’t affected in some way by somebody that is sick, hurting or going through some tough times.
This is a fact of life, and it is tough. Life is not going to be perfect. It is normal that life is going to throw these things at us. It is inevitable.
What a Difference Jesus Makes When We Invite Him Into Our Homes.
Jesus’ presence in our homes makes all the difference. Home is often where He does the most ministering and healing to our families and us.
Do you talk about Jesus in your homes, do you make time for prayer and reading the bible in your homes. We do these things in bible study or church but do not make time for it at home.
We are all guilty of being too busy to host Jesus in our homes and our hearts. We often leave Him at church or leave Him at the door when we come home, yet home is where we need Him the most.
He Not Only Heals, But He Also Restores Strength
And look at her response.
So He came and took her by the hand and lifted her up, and immediately the fever left her. And she served them. – Mark 1:31
She immediately begins to serve. I think when the Lord touches your life you can’t help but want to make a difference in serving others.
What an encouraging and inspiring passage for what Jesus can do for a person that is not afraid to bring Jesus into his home.
