Teaching and Sharing Whenever and Wherever Possible

In Mark’s Gospel, we read that Jesus often taught by sea but as the crowds grew, He would get on a boat and teach from there.

And again He began to teach by the sea. And a great multitude was gathered to Him, so that He got into a boat and sat in it on the sea; and the whole multitude was on the land facing the sea. – Mark 4:1

Teaching The Multitudes

Thousands of people from the region had heard about Jesus, and the crowds followed Him everywhere He went.

Jesus usually taught in the synagogues since that is where most people went to listen to the scribes and other religious leaders read scripture and expound on it. But most synagogues were built for the local community and not for thousands of people.

Many people who came from other regions would never get a chance to go inside to hear Him speak because it was so crowded. So Jesus came outside to talk to the people where those who could not get inside, would get a chance to hear His teachings.

Being Missional Means Ministry Can Take Place Anytime and Anywhere

As far as Jesus was concerned, preaching was not only for the Synagogue or the Sabbath. Jesus was on a mission whenever and wherever possible. #missionalchristianity #calvarychapel Click To Tweet

As far as Jesus was concerned, preaching was not only for the Synagogue or the Sabbath. Jesus preached and taught seven days a week.

Jesus was missional whenever and wherever possible.

Jesus never considered that preaching and teaching should only take place in the synagogue. He went wherever necessary to reach as many people as possible.

We are called to be on mission for Jesus 24/7. That means we should always be looking for opportunities to use our gifting’s no matter what day of the week it is or where we are.

It may be simple acts of hospitality for a friend or loved one. It may be sharing your faith with the folks who go door to door selling magazines or cookies. It could even mean striking up a conversation with a staranger while you are on vacation at Disney World.

We should be looking and praying for opportunities to be on mission every day of the week and everywhere we go.
